According to McGraw-Hill Construction Forecast and Trends, single-family housing construction has held steady as the pattern of recent months suggests that activity is stabilizing at a low volume after the decline shown earlier in 2011.
On the home front, we have noticed in our Bid Meetings for residential work, that pricing from the General Contractors continues to be competitive. When we send Construction Documents out to Bid, we show smaller optional areas of work as “Add Alternates”. Because the Basic Projects are priced so attractively, many homeowners have the ability to add to the Scope of Work. Examples of these optional projects are: finishing a basement Recreation Room; renovating the Hall Bath; adding a Portico; rebuilding a Deck, etc.
